COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE CONTENT OF ESSENTIAL OILS OF ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM L. AND ACHILLEA ARABICA KOTSCHY
The article presents a comparative analysis of the content of essential oils of Achillea millefolium L. and Achillea arabica Kotschy collected from different geographical locations of Samarkand region, Republic of Uzbekistan. Essential oils were extracted by steam distillation and the chemical composition was studied by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. The analysis showed the presence of both common and unique components in the essential oils of both species. The major components that were identified in both species include m-Cymene, Eucalyptol, Linalool, Lavandulol, γ-Terpinene and Ascaridole, which have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Unique compounds such as 2-Carene and α-Thujene in Achillea millefolium and Carvacrol, α-Phellandrene and Thymol in Achillea arabica reveal differences in their applications in several fields. The results of the study showed that the composition of essential oils of Achillea millefolium L. and Achillea arabica Kotschy plant species can vary considerably depending on the species, the place of growth, the place of collection and environmental conditions.
